Abortion Backers Lose Fight at Planned Parenthood Sponsored UN Mtg

I was reading an interesting article today.

Abortion Backers Lose Fight at Planned Parenthood Sponsored UN Mtg

LifeNews reported that, “Youth activists arrived at the UN in droves last week in an attempt to hijack the 45thsession of the Commission on Population and Development (CPD) by promoting homosexual rights and abortion. However, countries rejected their demands and produced a fairly balanced outcome document that focuses on more pressing youth concerns like education.”

I am not suggesting I agree with the organizers, in fact I personally would have been there for the opposite reasons, but what made the article interesting for me was two things, firstly the article reports that ” Sponsored by organizations like the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF), the Youth Coalition, and the International Women’s Health Coalition (IWHC), youth activists flooded the conference floor and were strategically placed on country delegations with the hope of shifting the conference’s focus to sexual and reproductive health of youth and adolescents”. The fact that IPPF, YC and IWHC were able to strategically plan ahead and get their people “strategically placed” is awesome.

As an event organizer I know this takes careful planning and preparation. You don’t just walk into the UN and say “oh today I’m going to lobby”, especially at this level. No, these organizations were methodical, informed, determined and had some good backing. They had done their research on what was being presented.

Secondly, is the fact that these organizations were able to “plant” their own teams of multiple young lobbyists in to countries with an aim of getting the UN to change its language and conception of sexuality, again great planning and foresight.

” Throughout the week, they lobbied country delegates to place controversial language in the outcome document that would undermine the right and responsibility of parents in the sexual education of their children and include sexual and reproductive health “rights” as well as comprehensive sexuality education”

So why am I highlighting the actions of groups I disagree with? Not because of what they believe, but because they almost succeeded. They had great event planners and strategic thinkers on board. Where we’re the groups that are Prolife and Educationally challenging the countries to bring reform?

This is an example of what is possible when you Plan, Prepare and Position, you can Produce amazing results that will not only change governments but in this example change the world. Steve Brown.
